Configure Fields and Predicates for Multiple X-Events

I’m not always the best at learning to use graphical interfaces. Maybe that’s why I often don’t like them?

I do rather like the Extended Events GUI — at least better than I like writing my own TSQL for Extended Events. And I finally figured out something that wasn’t obvious to me at all: it’s very easy to set global fields and predicates for multiple events!

Here’s an animated GIF showing the magic of highlighting multiple events using the shift key:

Was this obvious to everyone else? It only took me a few years to figure it out. 😀

  • Amazing! Actually that’s the reason I learned to write XE in TSQL, so I could easily write the filter conditions.
